Carterville, IL: When ThisIsBracketRacing.com rolled out the details of this season’s Driver Series in early 2021, it captured the attention of weekly bracket racers across the continent. The unique format allows racers in both the Top bulb and Bottom bulb categories to compete for the title of World Champion, and a $10,000 prize (in each class), all without ever having to leave their home track.
Racers have jumped at the opportunity to support the series, to the tune of over 470 registered participants at 25 competing race tracks! Due to this overwhelming support, ThisIsBracketRacing has unprecedentedly INCREASED the purse. The champions in each category will still earn $10,000 each. Now, in addition, the second through fifth place finishers in each category will also earn $500 cash from ThisIsBracketRacing.com. As if that weren’t enough, the sportsman drag racing friendly team at JEGS has also gotten involved (to the tune of $5,000!). The sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth finishers in each category will earn $500 JEGS gift cards.

“When we initially committed to the $20,000 champions purse, I’ll be honest: we wrote some of it off as an advertising expense,” admitted ThisIsBracketRacing’s Luke Bogacki. “I figured we’d lose money, but we could justify it both by gaining some exposure for ThisIsBracketRacing at the local bracket level, and also by taking this opportunity to give back to the sport: local bracket racing is how we all got our start, and I want to see racing at that level continue to thrive.”
Racer support exceeded expectations.
“With 470+ participants signed up at $50 each, you can do the math. We covered the $20,000 prize pool with room to spare. Our intention was never to profit from the program; so we’re simply rolling that revenue back into the purse.”
ThisIsBracketRacing’s Ashley Thompson, who developed and administers the Driver Series added: “This program is something that we’re passionate about, and we knew there would be interest in the series: but we never dreamed this many racers would get behind it. It’s been really rewarding to see that we’ve struck a nerve – that so many racers have been looking for something like the Driver Series.
