ThisIsBracketRacing & JEGS Combine to Increase Driver Series Purse by Thousands!

Carterville, IL: When ThisIsBracketRacing.com rolled out the details of this season’s Driver Series in early 2021, it captured the attention of weekly bracket racers across the continent. The unique format allows racers in both the Top bulb and Bottom bulb categories to compete for the title of World Champion, and a $10,000 prize (in each class), all without ever having to leave their home track.

Racers have jumped at the opportunity to support the series, to the tune of over 470 registered participants at 25 competing race tracks! Due to this overwhelming support, ThisIsBracketRacing has unprecedentedly INCREASED the purse. The champions in each category will still earn $10,000 each. Now, in addition, the second through fifth place finishers in each category will also earn $500 cash from ThisIsBracketRacing.com. As if that weren’t enough, the sportsman drag racing friendly team at JEGS has also gotten involved (to the tune of $5,000!). The sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth finishers in each category will earn $500 JEGS gift cards.

Same purse for Top Bulb & Bottom Bulb Categories

Champion: $10,000!

2nd-5th: $500 each

6th-10th: $500 JEGS Gift Certificates

“When we initially committed to the $20,000 champions purse, I’ll be honest: we wrote some of it off as an advertising expense,” admitted ThisIsBracketRacing’s Luke Bogacki. “I figured we’d lose money, but we could justify it both by gaining some exposure for ThisIsBracketRacing at the local bracket level, and also by taking this opportunity to give back to the sport: local bracket racing is how we all got our start, and I want to see racing at that level continue to thrive.”

Racer support exceeded expectations.

“With 470+ participants signed up at $50 each, you can do the math. We covered the $20,000 prize pool with room to spare. Our intention was never to profit from the program; so we’re simply rolling that revenue back into the purse.”

ThisIsBracketRacing’s Ashley Thompson, who developed and administers the Driver Series added: “This program is something that we’re passionate about, and we knew there would be interest in the series: but we never dreamed this many racers would get behind it. It’s been really rewarding to see that we’ve struck a nerve – that so many racers have been looking for something like the Driver Series. I love that we’re able to spread out the increased revenue to reward more racers than just the champion. And now JEGS!?! I can’t emphasize enough how incredible it is to have them involved. They saw the interest in the Driver Series and said ‘that’s something we need to be a part of.’ And they did what they do: support sportsman racers at an unprecedented level. Let’s be honest: for those of us who race, a $500 JEGS gift certificate might as well be $500 cash!”

  • 10 points per round win, 3 bonus points for a win, 2 for r/u, 1 for semi.
  • No points will be given after buybacks. (This keeps it fair for tracks that do not offer buybacks.)
  • If your track allows 2 entries for one class, the first time you stage that round will be counted.
  • Points follow the driver, not the car.
  • If you enter both the top bulb and bottom bulb side of the Driver Series, the same car can be used for both classes.
  • A racer can only claim one home track

PRESS RELEASE

Win a $10,000 National Championship... Without Leaving Your Home Track!

ThisIsBracketRacing is proud to announce the expansion of its popular Driver Series, first introduced in mid-2020 and contested at a handful of race tracks across the country. The series is designed to reward racers for local accomplishment by competing on a national scale without the need to leave their home track! The ThisIsBracketRacing Driver’s Series will crown national champions in both the Box and No Box categories. 2021 national champions will each receive $10,000 courtesy of ThisIsBracketRacing.com!

Lane Cavar (Top Bulb) and Kip Poole (Bottom Bulb) were crowned inaugural champions of the Driver Series in 2020, and will no doubt look to defend their crown as the series expands to include 18 host tracks in 2021.

Host facilities for the 2021 ThisIsBracketRacing.com Driver Series include Ardmore Dragway (Ardmore, OK), Beech Bend Raceway Park (Bowling Green, KY), Big Country Raceway (Abilene, TX), Bremerton Raceway (Bremerton, WA),  Cedar Falls Motorsports Park (Cedar Falls, IA), Grand Bend Motorplex (Grand Bend, On), Greer Dragway (Greer, SC), Immokalee Regional Raceway (Immokalee, FL), Lebanon Valley Dragway (Lebanon, NY), Luskville Dragway (Luskville, QC), Mid-Michigan Motorplex (Stanton, MI), Mo-Kan Dragway (Ashbury, MO), Muncie Dragway (Muncie, IN), National Trail Raceway (Columbus, OH), Numidia Dragway (Numidia, PA), Onawa Dragway (Onawa, IA),  South Georgia Motorsports Park (Valdosta, GA), Summit Motorsports Park (Norwalk, OH), Tucson Dragway (Tucson, AZ) Virginia Motorsports Park (Dinwiddie, VA), Woodburn Dragstrip (Woodburn, OR), and WWT Raceway (Madison, IL).

Each facility has selected 8 of their regularly scheduled events at which drivers can earn points toward Driver Series championships. Racers will earn points at their best 6 finishes among those 8 events (the schedule for each facility will include rain dates for make-up events if necessary).

The series consists of two classes: top and bottom bulb. The entry fee is $50 per class (each class, top and bottom, is a separate entry fee for racers who choose to participate in both).  The entry fee is a one-time payment and separate from your entry fee at the track. The 2021 champion in each category will receive $10,000, guaranteed.

In addition to the championship purse, if the championship driver is a current ThisIsBracketRacing ELITE member, that driver will earn an additional $2,500 bonus from ThisIsBracketRacing!

Look for additional information soon on thisisbracketracing.com as we add prizes and incentives well beyond the national championship windfall. For more details and to sign up for points at your track, visit: thisisbracketracing.com/driverseries
