The Psychology of Bottom Bulb Racing (Part 2)

This week’s episode is part 2 of The Psychology of Bottom Bulb Racing. In part 1 I started to talk about the takeaways I had from a discussion within ThisIsBracketRacing ELITE and those takeaways were being fearless, having a conservative strategy, cocky swing, and to be like water. This week I want to dive even deeper and look out even more takeaways from that discussion.

RIP Scotty

Much like everyone else, I didn’t know how to react to hearing about Scotty Richardson passing. I just turned on the microphone and started recording. But what do you say when Superman dies?

The Psychology of Bottom Bulb Racing (Part 1)

This episode is exclusively for you bottom bulb racers and honestly if this sounds similar, it’s because my most recent National Dragster column was on this same topic too. But here within the Daily Driver, I want to expand on it more. I want to dive deeper into the psychology of bottom bulb racing, not just the tangible things but the mental side of things.

Limiting Inputs

In a world of so much information; so many things that we could (or society tells us we should!) care about, we simply have to choose what is important to us, and… equally importantly: what is not.

Comfort Zones

There are elements that are crucial to success in our racing. And there are elements that we believe to be crucial to success in our racing. Let’s talk about where comfort zones fall.

Do the next right thing

‘Do the next right thing’ is a mantra for many struggling with addiction or can be words to live by for many who have overcome tremendous setbacks. How can we relate it to drag racing? Racing is a difficult pursuit – that’s what draws so many of us to it (and holds our passion – because sustained perfection is truly unattainable). To move forward in racing we must ‘Do the next right thing’.

Staging Games

This seems to come up a couple of times of year, and it’s the complaint of staging games. I want to address this, but I’m way past the point of sugar coating it.

Competitive Sociopath

In this week’s episode I wanted to look at the correlation between of being hyper focused and success. Is that competitive sociopath mentality the only path to success? Or can we strive to be both focused and have fun?

Tell Me What To Do

“In this way you must understand how laughable it is to say, ‘Tell me what to do!’ What advice could I possibly give? No, a far better request is, ‘Train my mind to adapt to any circumstance.’… In this way, if circumstances take you off script… you won’t be desperate for a new prompting.” – Epictetus

The above quote is what I am focusing on for this week’s Daily Driver episode and it’s centered around our current ThisIsBracketRacing ELITE open enrollment period. Love listening to the Daily Driver but want more? Check out ELITE and join today at thisisbracketracing.com/elite.

Physical Health

On this week’s Daily Driver, I’m visiting one of the reoccurring questions that comes up in ThisIsBracketRacing in regards to health. Does diet and exercise impact performance?
