Mayse Motorsports Gearing Up for 2012 NHRA Season

Rustin Mayse closed the 2011 NHRA season ranked as the 7th best Super Gas competitor in the nation. Mayse, a former big bucks bracket series world champion and NHRA Division 4 Super Gas titlist, drove his Mayse Motorsports Corvette Roadster to the first NHRA national event victory of his career (the JEGS Cajun Sportsnationals) in 2011, and a pair of Lucas Oil Division Series final rounds. He also enters the 2012 campaign as the leader in the Division 4 JEGS All-Stars points standings.

Rustin’s father, Robbie Mayse has enjoyed great success behind the wheel himself, although in recent years a commitment to his youngest daughters softball career has kept him from the race track for the most part. Some of Robbie’s racing highlights include a runner-up finish in the 2005 Million Dollar Race, and a 2nd place finish in the NHRA Division 4 Super Comp standings in 2009. This season, Robbie is excited to have the opportunity to renew his focus on sportsman drag racing, as he and Rustin will compete together along the NHRA Lucas Oil Series schedule.

Rustin Mayse will once again drive in Super Comp and Super Gas this season, behind the wheel of his familiar Mayse Motorsports machines: an American Race Cars dragster and a Don Davis built Corvette Roadster Super Gas ride. Robbie Mayse will also compete in the 8.90 category behind the wheel of his Mullis Race Cars dragster, as well as Super Street in the teams ‘69 Camaro.

The Mayse team is proud to announce a new program that will put added power and reliability between the frame rails. Huntsville Engine & Performance of Huntsville, AL is currently building the team a pair of 582 cubic inch big block Chevrolet engines. The professionals at HEPC will assemble the new motors using quality products from BRODIX, Milodon, Callies, Comp Cams, Wiseco, CV Products, Dart Machinery, and TCI.

“I’m really excited about the 2012 NHRA season,” said Rustin Mayse. “For the last couple of years, I haven’t gotten to race with Dad very often, so I’m looking forward to hitting the road together again. Plus, the new alliance with Huntsville Engine is going to be great. Todd Ewing, Andy Anderson, and the staff at HEPC is second to none, and we’re extremely excited to have their crew in our corner.”

The Mayse Motorsports team will receive continued support from their faithful longtime marketing partners TCI, Comp Cams, BRODIX Cylinder Heads, Reeder Distributors, A Fab, American Race Cars, Cometic Gaskets, Holley Performance, and Milodon. The team will kick off their 2012 campaign at the NHRA Lucas Oil Division Series event at Houston Raceway Park March 2-4.
