JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout promoters Scott Bailey and Luke Bogacki have announced a handful of exciting new features for the second annual event set for July 21-22 at I-57 Dragstrip. One of the biggest announcements for 2012 is the addition of a Friday Night Racer’s Appreciation Barbecue, which will be presented by Holley Performance.
The barbecue will be held at the I-57 facility on Friday night July 20, prior to the weekend’s main event action. The feast will be prepared by track owner Scott Bailey, who was well known in the event concession business prior to purchasing I-57 Dragstrip. The barbecue dinner will be free of charge for all participants and weekend spectators, courtesy of Holley Performance Products.
"We were looking for something extra we could do to show the racers of the JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout how much we appreciate them coming out to I-57," said co-promoter Luke Bogacki. "The folks at Holley were involved in the inaugural event and they were one of the first companies to come to us and ask how they could play a larger role in year two. The result will be a great meal and a lot of fun before the racing really kicks into high gear. If you’ve never tasted any of Scott’s cooking, be sure to get to the track on Friday evening and get parked; you’re in for a treat thanks to Scott, the I-57 staff, and Holley Performance."
The gates will open Friday at noon, and will be open for parking all night. Friday night I-57 Dragstrip will host a test-n-tune session from 6:00-11:00, highlighted by the opening qualifying session for Quick 16 at 9:00. The Holley Performance Racers Appreciation Barbecue will kick off at 8:00.
The second annual JEGS Summer Door Car Shootout is a door-car-only bracket event that boasts a $30,000+ cash purse and over $25,000 in prizes.
