Mark Faul Presents this Month’s Guest Editorial for ThisIsBracketRacing.com Members

Carterville, IL: This months www.ThisIsBracketRacing.com guest editorial is penned by 15-time NHRA national event winner and 9-time NHRA Division champion Mark Faul. For Mark‘s column, TIBR asked him to select a specific event that he won, and detail his thoughts, strategies, and execution round-by-round for the TIBR audience. The result is an insightful look not only at the strategies that TIBR is known for, but also their real-world application by a well known and successful competitor. In his column, Mark details the 2011 NHRA Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, CA, in which he won Super Stock at the wheel of his Grand Am.

"It looked like Dave was dialed pretty honest in my mind, based on his previous runs. I hit the tree ok with a .026 and had a little too much room at 1000', so I gave it a couple whomps, then had one of those "OH NO" moments. I was full throttle through the stripe to get there .0004! I looked like a hero on paper, but felt stupid. "

-Mark Faul

Mark Faul earned his reputation as an excellent bottom bulb bracket racer in the 1990’s when he won 6 track championships between Bremerton Raceway and Pacific Raceways (he won the championship at both tracks in 1991). In the late ‘90’s he decided to tackle NHRA Super Stock competition, and had near instant success. He added a Stock Eliminator entry, and by 2002 he’d had so much success that he quit his day job to pursue the dream of racing for a living.

Faul has toured the country, earning a living in the sportsman categories of NHRA, IHRA and big buck bracket competition for the past decade. Along the way, he’s accumulated 15 NHRA national event wins, 15 NHRA LODRS victories, and has twice won the prestigious JEGS All-Stars competition. He’s a 2-time NHRA E.T. Finals champion, and has earned 7 NHRA Division Championships in Stock and Super Stock.
