Lamb Ready to Kick off 2015 in Pomona
Henderson, NV: 2013 NHRA Stock Eliminator national champion Justin Lamb is as excited as ever to begin the 2015 NHRA season, which kicks off with the Circle K NHRA Winternationals February 5-8 in Pomona, CA. Lamb, by far the youngest of just 4 drivers in NHRA history to own national event titles in six different categories, will kick off the season competing in Stock and Super Stock in Pomona. The 2015 Lamb Motorsports team featuring Justin, his sister Ryen, and team driver Kyle Seipel will include four competition vehicles designed to compete in Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, and Super Comp. In addition, Justin has agreed to run a full schedule of Competition Eliminator events behind the wheel of the A-1 Transmissions-backed Chevrolet Cobalt owned by Ken Reich and the Bowdish family.

“I’m actually pretty fired up about the season,” Lamb said. “We’ve got 3 proven combinations with our Stock, Super Stock, and Super Comp cars, and I’m really excited about the new motor that Madcap Race Engines is building for our Top Dragster/Super Comp entry – a 540 cubic inch engine topped with an 8.71 blower. And I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to race in Comp full time with Ken Reich and the Bowdish family. All the way around I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The Lamb in-house cars should look familiar. Justin will drive his Sunstate Companies backed Chevrolet Cobalt in Super Stock at most events. Though he’ll also wheel his Moser Engineering/Redback Boots Camaro in Stock Eliminator at Pomona, that’s a car that will see Kyle Seipel behind the wheel the majority of the time. Ryen Lamb will once again field her Redback Boots/Matco Tools dragster in the Super Comp category. Finally, the new blower combination will split time between Super Comp and Top Dragster with longtime sportsman ace Seipel handling driving chores.

“If you can’t tell, we’re pretty excited about the blower,” expressed Lamb. “We’re confident Madcap will build us plenty of power; and we’re doing it with a single 4-barrell carburetor so that we can utilize a typical throttle stop combination to run it in Super Comp. My good friend Phil Unruh, who has run a similar combination for years, has offered a lot of help and expertise. I’m anxious to see what it can do.”

Lamb found himself in the seat of the Bowdish’s A-1 Transmissions Cobalt as a favor to a friend late last season when Adam Bowdish could not make it to the NHRA national event at Lamb’s hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The decision paid huge dividends, netting Lamb his first Competition Eliminator national event title. That event led to a full time ride, as Lamb has agreed to drive the car in 14 NHRA events in 2015 as the team throws their hat in the ring of national championship contenders in the ultra-competitive Competition Eliminator category.

“I’ve had a few people ask me how that came about,” Lamb explained. “I mean, we’ve got several cars, why would I drive for someone else? But this is a unique situation. The Bowdish’s have been personal friends to our family for a long time. We use their A-1 torque converters in every car we own. They’ve got a very competitive car, and they’re a lot of fun to drive for. We all want to win as much as anyone, but they provide a very laid back atmosphere; there’s no pressure, no huge expectations. I know they’ve got the car and the team to do great things. Hopefully I can do my job and we can have success.”
